Professor publishes Spanish children’s book on resiliency during COVID-19 – Fresno Condition News


Dr. Helda Pinzon-Perez, professor within the Department of Public Health, has printed a Spanish-language children’s book on building resilience skills throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp

Based on research from Yale College, three from four children hospitalized with severe installments of COVID were Hispanic (51%) or black (23.3%). It, entitled “COVID-19: Como María, Samuel y William Lo Enfrentaron disadvantage Valentía, Inteligencia y Resiliencia (COVID-19: How María, Samuel, and William Faced it with Courage, Intelligence, and Resilience),” depicts imaginary tales of Hispanic and Latinx children who’ve had COVID and have lost family people, buddies or any other important individuals their lives. Other topics for example poverty, language barriers and immigration-related issues are discussed, additionally to resilience skills.&nbsp

This book will function as a historic memoir for generations to come of the several situations faced by Latinx communities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic so that as an evaluation for that readers around the fundamental concepts of COVID-19 for example transmission modes, treatment, and available sources, amongst others,” Pinzon-Perez stated.
